Sonny Criss, one of the standout saxophonists representing the bebop era, emerged in California with several jam sessions in 1947. Throughout the 1950s, he collaborated with numerous musicians, including leading his own orchestra and groups. In 1956, following his acclaimed album "Go Man!", he released another leader album from Imperial Records. Accompanied by a quintet featuring Sonny Clark on piano, Larry Bunker on vibraphone, Buddy Clark on bass, and Lawrence Marable on drums, Criss delivers emotionally charged renditions of standard numbers from Cole Porter's score. While Sonny Clark's piano shines, Larry Bunker's vibraphone adds a touch of moodiness and sweetness to the atmosphere. This Japanese reissue, released in 1993 as part of Toshiba EMI's "West Coast LP Collection".
