Japanese jazz singer Yoshiko Goto joined Eiji Kitamura & Rhythm Mates in the 50's, played live with Sharp Flats in the 60's, and made her solo debut with "Yoshiko, This Girl" in 1970. With the ironclad trio of Masahiko Sato (p), Masahiko Togashi (per), and Nobuyoshi Ino (b), she sings standard numbers by Gershwin and Paul Williams as well as The Beatles and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Needless to say, the performance of the three musicians in the background is excellent, and the harmony of Goto's soft and floating voice is wonderful, leading the listener to a superb world. This is a masterpiece of a masterpiece that can be listened to by a wide range of people, not only jazz fans. The drumming of Masahiko Togashi is very interesting to listen to in this way.
