This is an album released in 1976 by Archie Shepp, a gem of a saxophonist who, along with John Coltrane and Cecil Tayler, has produced many African-spiritual jazz masterpieces. Recorded at a studio in Paris, France in 1975, the album features Shepp's relaxed and uninhibited saxophone playing, including A1, a tenor sax solo on a Charlie Parker tune, and B1, a spiritual sax solo that exceeds 17 minutes. The album is a work that can be enjoyed. A2/B2, featuring vocals by singer Zusaan Festeau-Garrett and alto saxophone by Arthur Jones, and Shepp's piano playing, are especially recommended.
