This 3-vinyl box set, released in 1984, contains nine works by Japanese composer Yoshio Yamura, who died in 1985 at the age of 45. Aki Tahahashi, Sumire Yoshihara, Isako Shinozaki, Shozo Nakagawa, and Hiroshi Koizumi participated as performers. This is a wonderful way to experience all at once the confrontational style between madness and silence of Yamura, who is known as a super-expressionist composer, including "Higanbana no Genjaku" and "Elixir" under the influence of Italian avant-garde composer Sylvano Bussotti. The flute solo "Maniera," which uses a lot of shakuhachi-like vibrato, "Constellation," with its high frequency metallic sounds, the percussion solo "Dolcissima Mia Vita," and "Breathing Field," performed by Sound Space Ark, are especially recommended.
