The 1985 debut album by Oblique, the duo of keyboardist Gerard Stokkink and drummer/percussionist Tommy Bachmann. Stokkink was also the creator of Shusaku & Dormu Dance Theater / Music From, the obscure Dutch experimental electronics gem featured in the first edition of the guidebook Obscure Sound. The album is centered around crossover jazz with a strong new age sensibility, making extensive use of bright synthesizers, but A2 is particularly remarkable: an abstract jazz piece in which mysterious synth textures, avant-garde percussion, and marimba drift through space with an extraordinary sense of weightlessness. B3 and B6 are also superb examples of new age jazz, combining a mysterious atmosphere with a beautifully smooth and delicate sonic texture. B3 is an alternate version of a track that also appeared on the aforementioned Shusaku & Dormu Dance Theater / Music From.

A2: Sculpture

B3: Yellow Turtles
