The first in a series of albums compiling performances of traditional Japanese music, released in 1978 by Auvidis, a French label founded by Louis Bricard in 1976 that released many classical, world music, and children's works. Side A features a wonderfully transparent shakuhachi duet with a cool atmosphere, performed by shakuhachi players Goro Yamaguchi, a Living National Treasure, and Hōmei Matsumura. Side B features ensemble pieces including shakuhachi, koto, shamisen, as well as percussion instruments and taiko drums. Both sides present a meditative sound world rooted in Zen philosophy, deeply permeating the heart.
