This is an album by the Paraguayan group Los Chiriguanos, released on the Nonesuch label's Explorer Series, which has produced many great albums of folk music and local recordings. This is a performance of music from the indigenous Paraguayan tribe called the Guarani. The music is sung in Guarani, a language that has remained its own before the Spanish colonial period, and is composed of a simple composition of guitar, harp and vocals, with light tempo dances such as polkas and galopas, and complex rhythmic music in 3/4 time and syncopated in 6/8 time.
