This is an album released in 1987 by Ocora, a French world music label known for producing high-quality field recordings. It features recordings of Shingon sect monks chanting during the monthly memorial service, Tsukinami Mieku, dedicated to the founder, Kobo Daishi Kukai. The album includes 17 chants, such as "Shichi Bongosan," which praises the Buddha's four wisdoms, and "Hyakumi Kuyo," a ritual offering 100 kinds of food to Kannon. As expected from Ocora, the recording quality is excellent. However, it appears that the recordings were not made in a temple but at the Maison de Radio France in Paris.
