This is the first album by one of Japan's world famous jazz pianists, Masaru Imada, who has been working as a jazz musician for 50 years, released in 1980. The quintet consists of Mitsuaki Furuno (b), Shinji Mamoru (ds), Yuji Imamura (per) and Katsumi Watanabe (g). A1, with its nostalgic melody of country guitar and 12-string guitar drifting sadly over the rhythm of castanets, and A2, with its pleasant exhilaration like the morning sun shining on the sea, were followed by an ethnic crossover jazz piece on the theme of Spain's Andalusia, skillfully incorporating flamenco and samba rhythms. The guitar work of Katsumi Watanabe is excellent, but it is the rhythm section of Shinji Futamori and Yuji Imamura that really shines.
