This album features compositions for traditional Japanese instruments by the Japanese composers Yoshio Mamiya and Yutaka Makino. It was likely released around 1969 or 1970. The performances are by the group "Kokugaku 4 Nin no Kai," which was founded in 1957 by the shakuhachi player Kozan Kitahara II. Since its inception, the group has performed extensively both domestically and internationally, continuously promoting the charm of traditional Japanese music worldwide. The ensemble for this album consists of Kozan Kitahara (shakuhachi), Sumiko Goto (koto), Teiko Kikuchi (koto, jushichigen), and Akiko Yazaki (sanshin, koto). While adhering to classical ensemble traditions, modern compositional elements are also evident at key points. Particularly noteworthy is Makino's piece "Kaze (Wind)" for jushichigen solo, which was also featured in Teiko Kikuchi's 1981 album "Jushichigen no Sekai (The World of Jushichigen)." In this piece, the dynamic development ranges from the low to high registers, with rich tones and melodies leaving a lasting impression.
