This album was released in 1971 by American saxophonist Albert Ayler, who made a name for himself as a pioneer of avant-garde jazz in 1960s New York, on the Dutch label Osmosis Records. It features recordings from 1964 at Atlantic Studio in New York, performed by a quartet consisting of Carl Cobbs (piano), Henry Grimes (bass), and Sunny Murray (drums). From the very first track on Side A, Ayler's emotionally rich saxophone playing, which evokes a deep sense of nostalgia, leaves a powerful impression. The album continues to showcase performances that reflect a heartfelt return to roots, full of deep respect and love for New Orleans jazz. Highly recommended. This is the Japanese domestic release issued by DIW in 1986.
