A 1980 release from Azymuth, the legendary Brazilian jazz-funk/fusion trio consisting of Jose Roberto Bertrami, Alex Malheiros, and Ivan Conti. Carrying on the legacy of their all-time classic “Jazz Carnival”—featured on the previous year’s masterpiece Light as a Feather and even issued on 12-inch—the album kicks off with the fast-paced fusion dancer A1, followed by the sweetly shimmering electric piano of Bertrami on A2, and the sharp slap-bass–driven mid-tempo groover A4. From start to finish, this is Azymuth’s breezy, electric fusion at its finest. Very highly recommended.

A1: Papasong
A2: 500 Miles High
A4: Dear Limmertz
