This is an album released in 1968 by Charles Lloyd, a saxophonist with a deep knowledge of US black music such as blues and gospel, who has performed with Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry, and many others on the free jazz side. It is a live recording of a concert at Aulaen Hall in Oslo, Norway with Keith Jarrett (p), Cecil McBee (b), and Jack DeJohnette (ds), the most powerful members of the band. While already showing glimpses of his later works such as "Nirvana" and "Waves," which were tinged with psychedelic and ethnic feelings, he also performed a deeply spiritual post-bop that echoed the spiritual jazz of New York City.
