An album released in 1964 by the undeniable jazz giant John Coltrane, who leaped from Sheets of Sound to Spiritual Free. It features live recordings from October 8, 1963, at Birdland in New York City, with the classic quartet of McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison (bass), and Elvin Jones (drums). From Coltrane's opening blow to Tyner's superb interplay, listeners can enjoy the iconic track A1, which has become widely known, as well as A2, where the singer Billy Eckstine's compositions are played with Sheets of Sound-like precision. The performance unfolds with intense fervor. Personally, I highly recommend the serene atmosphere of B2, which feels like deep fog enveloping. This is likely a reissued UK pressing from the late 1980s.

A1: Afro-Blue

B2: Alabama
