This album is a Japan-exclusive release from 1979 by Marion Brown, the American jazz saxophonist who had a long and illustrious career from the 1960s to 2000. It was released under the RVC subsidiary label Baystate. The album features recordings made in a New York studio in 1978 with a quartet consisting of Kenny Barron (piano), Cecil McBee (bass), and Philly Joe Jones (drums). The album includes a groovy tune in A1, where light melodies layer over a shuffling rhythm, as well as a bright African jazz piece in B1 that resonates with Cape Jazz, reminiscent of Doller Brand's style. Additionally, you can enjoy mature interpretations of classics by Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk. It's a delightful journey into the wonderful world of Marion Brown's artistry. Highly recommended. This is a reissue from 1983.
