Released in 1985, this is a masterpiece solo album by Mark Egan, the extraordinary bass player from Massachusetts, known for his work with the Pat Metheny Group as well as his collaborations with John Abercrombie. Highlights include A4, where the contrast between bass melodies that spread out like quiet ripples and wet-toned guitar lines creates a beautifully melancholic atmosphere, and B3, where solid yet warm percussion beats and bass draw an open, expansive landscape. Throughout the album, the majestic melodies produced from Egan’s 4-string and 8-string double-neck bass unfold into music full of new age sensibility, matching perfectly with Asian landscapes as well. B4 is especially wonderful, revealing a fully meditative ambient world. An absolutely reliable classic. No obi and insert included.

A4: Ocean Views
B3: Third World Wave
