Album released in 1972 by McCoy Tyner, an American pianist who has been a core member of the John Coltrane Quartet since 1960, and has performed superbly on such historical classics as Coltrane, Ballad, Love Supreme and Ascention. Quartet with Sonny Fortune, Calvin Hill and Alphonze Mouson. A2, a piano solo overflowing with fluid and lyrical melodies, and A4, which layers speedy interplay as if soaring to the skies, are masterpieces of spiritual jazz with a nod to Africa. The exotic melodies of the koto and the flute on A3 and the Afro-jazz B1, which runs for over 23 minutes, are the best of all.

A3: Valley of Life
B1: Sahara
