A phenomenal masterpiece album released in 1976 by the incredibly talented Czech jazz bassist Miroslav Vitous, known for his work with Weather Report and his solo projects on ECM. Featuring an all-star lineup including Herbie Hancock, Airto Moreira, Jack DeJohnette, and James Gadson, with female vocalists Cheryl Grainger and Onike. Highlights include the supremely cool jazz-funk tracks A1 and B4, where Herbie Hancock’s ARP Odyssey and electric piano intertwine with slow, groovy funk beats that hit deep. Track A2 showcases a blistering groove with percussive rhythms and soaring keyboards, while B1 channels the smoky, electric jazz vibes reminiscent of Electric Miles. The album unfolds as a cosmic exploration of crossover jazz, exuding an irresistible coolness and standing as a masterpiece of the genre. Timelessly brilliant, it’s an album that never fails to amaze.
