Spanish Blue
CTI Records/King Record (Japan) 1978

One of America’s foremost bassists, Ron Carter has appeared on countless sessions with artists and groups including Miles Davis, Bill Evans and Chet Baker. This leader album was released on CTI in 1975 and features Hubert Laws, Billy Cobham, Roland Hanna and Ralph MacDonald. A superb crossover-oriented work, blending Latin and Spanish flavors with a modal jazz sensibility. Carter’s deep, supple bass work comes beautifully to the fore amid cool-toned flute, softly shimmering electric piano and gently swaying percussion. The album also includes a refined cover of Miles Davis’ classic “So What.” This is the limited edition released by King Records in 1978 as part of the CTI Original 1500 Series.
