One of America’s foremost bassists, Ron Carter has appeared on countless sessions with artists and groups including Miles Davis, Bill Evans and Chet Baker. This leader album was released on CTI in 1976 and features Kenny Barron, Don Grolnick, Hugh McCracken, Billy Cobham, Ben Riley and Dom Um Romão. While gracefully incorporating elements of jazz-funk, Latin music and crossover jazz, the album presents a refined performance centered around Carter’s bass and piccolo bass, with electric piano, guitar and percussion intertwining in a relaxed, spacious manner. From the introspective beauty of A1 to the light, easy groove of the title track on B1 and the cover of Thelonious Monk’s classic on B3, the album carries a modern sense of movement within its warm, mellow soundscape. This is the limited edition released by King Records in 1978 as part of the CTI Original 1500 Series.
