An album released in 1965 by American pianist Wynton Kelly, who debuted as a member of an R&B band in his teens and participated in legendary recordings with Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. The quartet includes Paul Chambers (b), Jimmy Cobb (ds), and guitarist Wes Montgomery, recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's studio the same year. Highlights include the rocking A1, showcasing Kelly's distinctive staccato playing, and A2, featuring a wonderful combination of elegant piano touches and Montgomery's flowing guitar. This masterpiece, which greatly influenced Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, allows listeners to experience the essence of Kelly. Original US pressing with VAN GELDER stamp.
