This is the 1986 leader album by American pianist Amina Claudine Myers, known for her participation in the works of free jazz musicians such as Lester Bowie, Muhal Richard Abrams, and Anthony Braxton. In addition to collaborating with artists like Patience Higgins, Carlos Ward, Ricky Ford, Jerome Harris, Reggie Nicholson, and Bola Idowu, Myers has also left outstanding solo pieces, including 'Jumping in the Sugar Bowl.' The album showcases a sextet that incorporates elements of funk and new wave, featuring a variety of ethnic percussion and voices, including the talking drum. It is a crossover avant-garde jazz presentation that emotionally rises up, making A2 a superb example of spiritual contemporary jazz.
