An album released in 1960 by the American pianist Andrew Hill, who left behind numerous masterpieces on Blue Note during the mid-1960s to early 1970s. The album features recordings from a trio session with Malachi Favors (b) and James Slaughter (ds), recorded in Chicago in 1956. It is a superb piece where the 25-year-old Hill, showcasing his beautiful melodies, presents standards like A1, a Cole Porter composition, which is a standard tune from the hit musical 'Kiss Me Kate,' and A2, an author-unidentified blues number arranged percussively and deeply. Although the era is the 1950s, the sophistication of the music is remarkable. Malachi Favors, who later became a member of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, was only 29 years old at the time. This is a reissue from 1988 released by Fresh Sound in Spain.
