An album released in 1981 by the group Art Ensemble of Chicago, consisting of Lester Bowie, Joseph Jarman, Roscoe Mitchell, Malachi Favors, and Famoudou Don Moye, who explore free and experimental jazz rooted in traditional African music. It features live recordings from a concert held in Italy in 1980. The album opens with a theme paying homage to African ethnic music and early jazz, leading into a dramatic performance with AEOC's signature jungle sound, unfolding like the rituals of a primitive indigenous tribe. It's an exceptional performance.
