A double album released in 1980 by the American group Art Ensemble of Chicago, consisting of Roscoe Mitchell, Lester Bowie, Malachi Favors, Joseph Jarman, and Famoudou Don Moye. The group from Chicago explores free/experimental jazz rooted in African traditional music. The album includes unearthed recordings from a concert held in Paris, France, in October 1969, before the addition of Don Moye. The vocalist Fontella Bass is featured in these recordings. Already, the blueprint of the AEOC (Art Ensemble of Chicago) sound, bridging 'ancient to the future,' is complete, with interplay accompanied by the primitive sounds of percussion, reminiscent of the untouched jungles and vast plains of the savannah.
