Arto Lindsay, a composer and guitarist from New York, first rose to prominence as a member of the No Wave group DNA. He has since built an extraordinary career, working with The Lounge Lizards, The Golden Palominos, and collaborating with Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Byrne, always showcasing his unique musical vision. In 1984, Lindsay formed Ambitious Lovers alongside his longtime collaborator Peter Scherer, resulting in this outstanding release. The album absorbs strong influences from Brazilian music, reflecting Lindsay’s deep connection to the country, and blends them seamlessly with razor-sharp, solid experimental wave sounds. It’s a truly explosive display of talent, with a style that even echoes similarities to Arthur Russell. There are also highly danceable, floor-ready tracks that are undeniably cool. Original UK pressing.
