The group Basic Train, consisting of four musicians active in the Dutch jazz scene—Herman Schoonderwalt (tenor sax, soprano sax), Jan Hydts (electric piano, synth), Koos Serierse (bass), and Leo de Ruiter (drums, percussion)—released their only album in 1975, a hidden masterpiece. The album features a range of highly refined and groovy jazz rock tracks. A1 captivates with its melancholic melody spun by soprano sax and electric piano, while A2 offers a spiritual jazz rock sound reminiscent of Teruo Nakamura's famous album "Rising Sun." This album is highly recommended.
