This masterpiece album, released in 1979, features a collaboration between Yosuke Yamashita, a master of free jazz in Japan, and contemporary musician Haruna Miyake. It is a live recording of a concert held at Jean-Jean in Shibuya, which Miyake hosted and invited Yamashita to perform at, as part of the series "Contemporary Music and Me." The album includes A1, where their solos intertwine based on the theme of "Itsuki no Komoriuta," A2, which follows the principle of each performer reacting to and moving in response to the other's performance, and B1, where they improvise and collage phrases on the theme of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony "Ode to Joy." Their intentional improvisation is executed live, and the collaboration between these two musicians from different genres is incredibly intense and extraordinary. Miyake's essay included in the insert is also a must-read.
