This 1988 album features the musical geniuses Wayne Horvitz, Butch Morris, and Robert Previte, joined by Doug Wieselman and Bill Frisell, performing a score by American singer-songwriter and pianist Robin Holcomb, who is also Horvitz's wife. Track A1 uses the Yamaha DX-7 and noise to create a unique ambiance, while track A4 features Chinese-like phrases and the melancholic sound of synthesizers to create a mysterious world. This edgy album expresses Holcomb's imaginative compositions with a more progressive approach. Highly recommended—all tracks are excellent. Fans of ECM will also enjoy this album.
A1: Adagio
A4: The Road to Zamora
