John Cage with David Tudor
Variations IV

sleeve : EX(some slightly dirts.)

Needless to say, this album, released in 1966, features one of the most important avant-garde musicians of the 20th century, John Cage, performing with American avant-garde musician David Tudor, with whom he had been friends since the 1950s. The album captures a live performance held at the Feigen-Palmer Gallery in Los Angeles in 1965. It begins with a narration about composition, followed by a rapid-fire collage of various sounds, including film dialogues, music, opera, radio broadcasts, wireless communications, and typewriter noises, unfolding throughout the entire piece as a work of musique concrète. This significant experiment challenges the boundaries between music and noise. This is the US reissue in 1981.
