This album was featured in the first edition of the guidebook Obscure Sound. Released in 1985, it is a masterpiece by Colombian lead player and multi-instrumentalist Justo Almario, who was a member of Roy Ayers Ubiquity and also participated in James Mason's timeless classic Rhythm of Life. The mellow summer fusion track on A1 is simply exceptional, with melancholic yet soft synthesizer melodies intertwining with light percussion rhythms to create an irresistibly pleasant vibe. The album is a hidden gem, filled with restrained, urban-style soft fusion tracks. Despite his unassuming appearance, Almario demonstrates an incredibly delicate artistic sensibility. Highly recommended for fans of the Pat Metheny Group, Mark Egan's Elements, and Pedro Aznar.
