This album was released in 1984 by Keiko Abe, who emerged as a world-class marimba player in the 1960s, and follows "Marimba Selection" released in 1981, featuring compositions by Japanese composers such as Akira Yuyama, Akira Miyoshi, Toshimitsu Tanaka, and Teruyuki Noda. 1 is a duo with alto saxophone by Motoei Miyajima, A2 is a string ensemble with the New Music Orchestra, B1 is a marimba solo, and B2 is a quintet with three flutes and double bass. All are post-modern contemporary music. I recommend A1 to those who like Yasuaki Shimizu & Saxophonettes, and B1 is especially outstanding with the detailed sound of the marimba flying around in the sound field.
A1: Akira Yuyama “Divertimento For Marimba And Alto Sax-phone”
B1: Two Movements For Marimba I, II
