This is a 1977 trio album featuring Canadian jazz pianist Paul Bley, known for his participation in groups like the Ornette Coleman Quartet and the Jazz Composer's Orchestra, as well as for his numerous masterpieces with his own groups. Joining him on this excellent ECM release are guitarist Bill Connors, who has also produced outstanding solo works, and veteran saxophonist Lee Konitz. The album was released on Bley's label, Improvising Artists Inc. Bley alternates between acoustic and electric piano, weaving delicate melodies, while Konitz and Connors layer on lyrical melodies in response, creating a fantastic combination. It's the epitome of deep jazz and highly recommended.
