This is the only leader album left by American female pianist Lorraine Geller, who had been active in Herb Geller's and Maynard Ferguson's groups since the mid-1950s. Released in 1959, it features recordings from 1954 at a studio in Los Angeles, where she performed with Leroy Vinnegar on bass and Eldridge Freeman on drums as a trio. Throughout the album, Geller showcases a remarkably fresh and charming performance, skillfully alternating between light attack and gentle, delicate touch without any sharp edges. This album, often referred to as a hidden gem, truly deserves the title, offering a delightful display of her talents. The reissue is from Spain, with the release year unspecified, but likely dating from the mid-to-late 1980s.
