An album released in 1980 by Marion Brown, an American jazz saxophonist who enjoyed a prominent career from the 1960s to 2000. Recorded live at the <Le Dreher> club in Paris in February of the same year, the album features performances with a quartet comprising Hilton Ruiz (piano), Jack Gregg (bass), and Freddie Waits (drums). Highlights include the captivating A1, where Brown's lively saxophone dances over a funky beat alongside Ruiz's groovy piano; the emotionally rich rendition of a track from the acclaimed album "November Cotton Flower," released the previous year, on A2; and the B2 track, which begins with Gregg's tranquil bass before transitioning from a lyrical first half to an avant-garde second half, evoking echoes of John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" while maintaining an organic atmosphere throughout. The standout performance of Ruiz on piano is particularly compelling. Highly recommended.
