An album released by American drummer Max Roach in 1956 on Emarcy Music, spanning from the bebop era of the 1950s to ethnically inspired groups like the percussion ensemble M'Boom. This album showcases Roach's refined arrangements and interplay with the quartet consisting of Kenny Dorham (trumpet), Sonny Rollins (tenor saxophone), and George Washington Morrow (bass), hinting at the transition from bebop to hard bop with its polished performances. Rollins' tenor saxophone and Dorham's trumpet complement Roach's Afro-Primitive drumming exceptionally well. The ballad on side B is also superb. This seems to be a reissue on the US label Mercury, likely from the 1970s.
