An album released in 1977 by Vietnamese composer Nguyen Thien Dao, who studied music at the Paris Conservatory and the Groupe de Recherches Musicales, and began his career as a composer in the early 1970s. The album includes "Ba Me Viet Nam" for contrabass and instrumental ensemble performed by the Quintette de Cuivres Ars Nova, "Phu Dong" for percussion and brass quintet, and "Gio Dong" for human voice performed by Dao himself. All of these compositions employ Western avant-garde musical techniques while exuding a unique Oriental primitivism, showcasing Dao's unparalleled musicality throughout. Highly recommended.
