This is an album released in 1984 by the American saxophonist Ornette Coleman, who undoubtedly influenced numerous musicians, including Don Cherry, as one of the founding fathers of free jazz. The album features a stellar lineup of longtime collaborators such as Don Cherry on trumpet, Charlie Haden on bass, Billy Higgins and Ed Blackwell on drums, and Dewey Redman on tenor saxophone. Additionally, Bobby Bradford on trumpet, Cedar Walton and Jim Hall on guitar, and Webster Armstrong on vocals contribute to the album. The ensemble's perfectly synchronized interplay showcases the essence of avant-garde jazz at its best. Tracks B4 and B5 are particularly thrilling, featuring Armstrong's vocals in a boogie-infused blues jazz and a lyrical spiritual jazz, respectively. Highly recommended.
B4: Good Girl Blues
B5: Is It Forever
