An album released in 1964 by the American multi-instrumentalist Roland Kirk, who skillfully played various reed instruments such as saxophones, flute, and clarinet and enjoyed a long career from the mid-1950s. The album features live recordings from a performance in 1963 at Club Montmartre in Copenhagen, Denmark, with Tete Montoliu (p), Niels Henning Osted Pederson (b), Don Moore (b), J.C. Moses (ds), and Big Skol (harmonica). The tracks include the laid-back grooves of A1, a Bolero Jazz with Kirk's seasoned, swaying tones, and the incredibly cool blues jazz of A3, featuring earthy flute-harmonica interplay. The rhythmic section from the Nordic musicians responds wonderfully to Kirk's play, filled with a sense of blackness. This is a Japanese reissue from 1981 released as part of the 'Shinseido Jazz Collectors Special III.'
A1: Narrow Bolero
A3: The Monkey Thing
