A leader album released in 1981 by the Swedish pianist Ronny Johansson, who gained prominence by joining Eric Dolphy's band. It features a quartet with Ove Ingemarsson (ts), Matz Nilsson (b), and Anders Kjellberg (ds). This excellent record showcases post-bop compositions that pay homage to legends of US Black Jazz such as Marion Brown, Archie Shepp, and Charles Greenlee. Tracks like the soothing A2 with its gentle and warm groove, and the refreshing B2 which incorporates Brazilian rhythms, highlight Johansson's skillful and respectful approach to the genre. It's a testament to the high quality of Nordic jazz. Recommended.
