An album released in 1992 by the special septet Roots, featuring master musicians such as Arthur Blythe (alto sax), Nathan Davis (tenor and soprano sax), Chico Freeman (tenor and soprano sax), Sam Rivers (tenor sax), Don Pullen (piano), Santi Debriano (bass), and Tommy Campbell (drums). It includes live recordings from a 1991 concert at The Forum in Leverkusen, Germany. The album covers classics like Duke Ellington, Dexter Gordon, Lester Young, and John Coltrane, with a project aptly titled Going Back to the Roots. Highlights include a lively performance of Sonny Rollins' famous song with calypso rhythms on track B1. As expected, the performances are outstanding, and the album boasts high-quality recording, mastering, DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) cutting, and pressing.
