A project consisting of three musicians active in the avant/free jazz scene, Mike Cooper (guitar), Lol Coxhill (reeds), and Roger Turner (drums, percussion), The Recedents released their first album in 1987. A1 features an effective real-time collage using breakbeats from a drum machine, voice, tape, touch synth, and more. Similarly, B3 is an avant-garde dance tune with an edgy and heavy drum machine beat combined with Hawaiian guitar, creating an interesting mix. B5 showcases experimental avant-free music, with a whirlpool of metallic percussion, guitar, and free-form reed interplay. This is an intensely brilliant album.
A1: Highly Perpendicular
B3: Hawaiian Gravity
B5: Detreed Man
