The album released by The Teddy Charles New Directions Quartet in 1960 on Warwick features vibraphonist Teddy Charles leading a lineup that includes Mal Waldron on piano, Addison Farmer on bass, and Ed Shaughnessy on drums. This recording captures live performances from a concert held in the garden of the MOMA in New York City, organized by Metronome Magazine the same year. Guest artists Booker Ervin on tenor saxophone and Booker Little on trumpet join the quartet for these recordings. From speedy hard bop to exotic numbers with a waltz beat, Waldron's piano work is understated, allowing Charles's vibes and the two guest soloists to blend smoothly, showcasing a cool jazz vibe. This reissue was released in 1988 by the Spanish label Fresh Sound.
