The Thomas - Jaspar Quintet, featuring guitarist Rune Thomas and lead player Bobby Jaspar, Belgian musicians active since the 1940s, with the rhythm section composed of Italian musicians Amadeo Tommasi (piano), Maurizio Majorana (bass), and Franco Mondini (drums), recorded in Rome, Italy, in 1961 and released in 1962 by RCA Italiana. This album showcases impressive guitar solos by Thomas, including the notable track "B4," and presents a collection of cool hard bop and moody jazz throughout. The elegant piano reminiscent of Bill Evans, accompanied by soft guitar and bass, creates a serene atmosphere, particularly evident in the contemporary feel of tracks A2 and B1. This hidden gem was reissued domestically in 1994 as part of the "Italian RCA Original LP Collection" series by BMG Victor.
