This is a double album released in 1987 by jazz singer Timna Brauer, daughter of the Austrian painter Arik Brauer, and Israeli jazz pianist Eli Meiri. It features live recordings from the <Orient> concert held in Tel Aviv in 1987. Israeli local jazz musicians such as Ilan Salem (flute), Eytan Itzkovich (drums), Vaghan William Meisener (bass), and Oren Balaban (percussion) participated in the recording. Despite Israel being considered a barren land for jazz fusion, this album is a very rare gem. It showcases an ethnic crossover fusion with an Oriental atmosphere, featuring original compositions by both artists heavily influenced by Brazilian elements reminiscent of Azimuth, as well as progressive arrangements such as setting traditional poems with West African accents to music and arranging Yemeni traditional songs. Brauer's scat singing adds a wonderful groove to the music. Highly recommended.
