A German jazz-rock group led by Jurgen Benz from Missus Beastly, Munju's 1977 debut album features contributions from musicians associated with Embryo. This masterpiece showcases first-rate hippie jazz-rock, combining a groovy vibe with a psychedelic touch. Highlights include the funky track A1, where the groovy rhythm section supports lively flute and alto saxophone improvisations; the cool three-beat jazz-rock B1, featuring primitive percussion and a distorted bassline with a bold, resonant tone; and the standout title track B3, which transitions from the deep, organic first part, with acoustic guitar and flute floating in a rustic tone, to an irresistibly funky groove that makes you want to move. A group worthy of being held in as high regard as Guru Guru.
