Egberto Gismonti
EMI-Odeon (Brazil) 1984
31C 064 422 940 (LP) Original pressing. gatefold sleeve. w/insert.
sleeve : VG+(SRW, wear on corner, dirts.)
media : EX-/EX-(some slightly noise. some slightly hairline that does not affect to sounds.)
This was featured in both editions of the guidebook Obscure Sound. A true masterpiece released in 1984 by Egberto Gismonti, a composer, guitarist, and pianist who is nothing short of a national treasure in Brazilian music. Except for Nivaldo Ornelas on soprano saxophone, the album is almost entirely performed by Gismonti himself. Featuring a stunning fusion of electronic sounds—using a wide array of gear including the Roland TR-808 and Arp Odyssey—and traditional instruments such as the sitar, this work achieves a miraculous blend of electronics and live instrumentation. The TR-808 lays down a raw, primitive rhythm as if Nana Vasconcelos had transformed into a rhythm machine, while the compositions, arrangements, and performances erupt in the emotionally perfect universe that defines Gismonti's sound. Original Brazilian pressing with gatefold sleeve.
A1: Coracao Da Cidade
A2: Sol No Asfalto C) Acao
