A leader album released in 1988 by guitarist Jean-Luc Chevalier, formerly of Magma. The quartet features fellow ex-Magma member Marc Eliard on bass, Jean Popof Chevalier of Mukta on drums and soprano sax, and Jean-Philippe Bordier on guitar. The album delivers sharp, speedy, and progressive cuts such as A1, dedicated to Magma drummer Christian Vander, but the real standouts are the more lyrical pieces on A2, B1, and B2. These tracks showcase a contemporary jazz-rock approach, rich in atmosphere and closely aligned with the ECM sensibilities associated with Bill Frisell and David Torn. Subtle, expressive, and beautifully textured throughout—highly recommended.
A2: Cafe De La Plage
B1: Le KM5 a Bangui
B2: Dallas
