The Ballad My Favorite

This 1981 album by Masahiko Togashi, Japan's legendary drummer and percussionist who continued his musical career despite a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down, is a stunning collection of ballads. Performed as a trio with Masahiko Sato (piano) and Kenji Takamizu (bass), it features interpretations of classic standard numbers. Sato arranged all the tracks, applying reharmonizations that introduced new chords to the pieces, resulting in beautifully rich and sensual arrangements. Togashi's masterful brushwork, delicately woven throughout, is an absolute delight. With exceptional sound quality, this is a highly recommended masterpiece.
