Paul Bley, one of Canada's leading jazz pianists, has been active since the 1950's, participating in the Ornette Coleman Quartet, Jazz Composer's Orchestra, and many other groups, and has left behind many masterpieces with his own group. This was released from ECM in 1973. In addition to two of his own compositions, he plays three pieces by his former wife Carla Bley and two pieces by Annette PEacock. Among the songs, A2, an emotional rendition of "Ida Lupino" from Carla Bley's famous album "Dinner Music," is the most compelling. This is a US pressing with a very clear and vibrant sound quality.
A2: Ida Lupino
